The "New River Gorge Bridge" an amazing 4 lane bridge with a grated-steel catwalk under the bridge for a view of the New River over 800 feet below. Typically the Appalachian Mountins are known for their fog as was the case this day in West Virginia. I was inspired to paint this beautiful scene by a friend who lives near there and drove across the bridge on the way to work for years. It is now a National Park, much to my friends displeasure, due to the crowds that visit to enjoy bridge and hiking trails. He remembers the secluded quiet walks among the beautiful pines walking down to the "New River".
